DataLab supports several formats for loading data into the system. One format, with the file extension .IDT, is the native format of DataLab, the other format, with file extension .ASC, is a readable text format:

IDT files	binary files which contain not only data but also additional information such as window sizes or colors
ASC files	readable text files containing only the data
ASC-Files from Clipboard	reads an ASC file from the Windows clipboard
CSV Files	reads CSV files
Excel Tables	imports Microsoft Excel tables (XLS and XLSX files)
Extract Data from Textfile	extracts data from complex text files by means of a script
Simple Text Import	importing text data exhibiting a simple data structure
